PROGRAMS

AmeriCorps is a national service movement that engages Americans of all ages and backgrounds in a domestic Peace Corps - getting things done across America by meeting our education, public safety, environmental, and human needs. You might mentor teens, teach elementary school children, counsel victims of domestic violence, or restore natural habitats.

AmeriCorps members serve at the grassroots level with hundreds of national, state, and local nonprofit organizations like the Red Cross, Food for People, Volunteer Center of the Redwoods, Redwood Community Action Agency, and Humboldt County Office of Education.

Within the Humboldt County area, members serve with AFACTR, AmeriCorps Vista, SAFECorps, StraightUp AmeriCorps, TOOTH AmeriCorps, the Watershed Stewards Project, California Conservation Corps, and Youthserve.

AmeriCorps members receive a modest living allowance, health coverage, and a post-service education award of $4,725 ($2,362 for part-time service).
