CITY OF FORTUNA
HOUSING REHABILITATION PROGRAM
ABOUT THE PROGRAM
You might notice some of your friends and neighbors fixing up their homes and wonder how they can afford to make those necessary repairs. Many of them are benefiting from the City of Fortuna's Housing Rehabilitation Program.
The City of Fortuna has been awarded grant funds (to help maintain its housing stock) from the California State Department of Housing and Community Development for the period 2005 to 2009. The city has contracted with RCAA to administer the program and disburse these funds in the form of low interest, deferred payment loans to income qualified homeowners and to landlords willing to sign a rent limitation agreement. If you have housing repair problems and haven't been able to afford to get them fixed, we might be able to help you.
Eligible homeowners are eligible for a 15 year payment deferral. Those over 60 years of age, disabled or on fixed incomes are eligible for deferred loans for up to 30 years.
Low Interest Loans
For homeowners: deferred payment loans up to $60,000 at 3% simple interest.
For owner/investors: loans up to $60,000 for single family residences and $60,000 per unit for multiple units for 15 years at an interest rate of 7%.
