Multiple Assistance Center Humboldt County Board of Supervisors, City of Eureka, public agencies and community based nonprofits have joined together to address the major gap in Humboldt County's continuum of care in homeless services: the lack of a 24 hour staffed transitional housing. The Multiple Assistance Center (MAC) combines safe housing for single men, single women and families with children and with in-depth case management and on-site direct services. The facility is scheduled to open in January 2005.
Essential components to the MAC program are: To act as anchor for services coordination; to improve access to treatment and services; to identify the strategies needed to manage the barriers and challenges of maintaining permanent housing; and to integrate a process to chart weekly progress on these self-identified goals. Life Skills classes will be offered on site. Office space will be available for MAC Staff and outside service providers.
